  • No campfire needed – No sticks, fire or special equipment needed for these s’mores! Just your oven and a skillet.
  • Enjoy all year round – You don’t need to wait for summer to get all the best s’mores flavor. These ones can be made year round!
  • Fun for partiesDessert dip recipes have been all the rage lately, and it’s easy to see why! They require minimal ingredients, almost no time at all and they’re absolutely incredible and easy to transport. They take classic recipes and turn them into the perfect sweet treat that is dippable.

What You’ll Need

The ingredients for this recipe are so easy it’s almost laughable. You only need three, that’s right- three, ingredients to make this easy dessert– and an oven safe skillet like a cast iron.

  • Chocolate chips – I like using semi-sweet chocolate chips because the marshmallows themselves are very sweet. However, you could use plain milk chocolate Hershey bars, chocolate chunks, milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate or chopped up baking chocolate if you prefer.
  • Marshmallows – I used regular marshmallows for my dip. However, feel free to use mini marshmallows large marshmallows or even jumbo marshmallows. The only thing I wouldn’t use would be marshmallow fluff.
  • Graham crackers – These are just used for dipping. Crunchy graham crackers finish off the whole s’mores flavor. However, feel free to use any other dippers you’d prefer.

This is How We Do It

You are going to love how easy it is to make this amazing smores dip. The steps are simple, and keep in mind that nothing has to be exact in this easy recipe. You can change and modify things to your liking!

  1. Add chocolate to skillet. Pour chocolate chips in the bottom of the pan. I have found that a 9-inch, heavy cast-iron skillet works best for this recipe. But if you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you could use any other oven-safe baking dish.
  2. Top with marshmallows. Place the fluffy marshmallows (or marshmallow halves if using larger marshmallows) right on top of the chocolate in a single layer. You will want to squish them in fairly tightly.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, but keep a close eye for the marshmallows to be perfectly golden brown. You don’t want them to burn!
  4. Allow to set. Remove from the oven and allow the dip to sit for a few minutes. This allows the melty chocolate to become fully melted.
  5. Serve with favorite dippers. Serve with graham crackers or your favorite dippers and enjoy!

5S Philosophy 👩🏻‍

  • Salt – While this recipe doesn’t have salt in it as written, you could certainly top it with some flakey sea salt at the end for extra flavor.
  • Seasonings – Traditional s’mores don’t have anything but chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. However, you could try sprinkling in some cinnamon for a fun flavor variation.
  • Sauces – Try drizzling some white chocolate sauce or salted caramel sauce over the top for even more deliciousness.
  • Swaps – Try throwing in peanut butter cups or even peanut butter chips to take things to the next level. You don’t have to stick with semisweet chocolate chips. Use your favorite type of chocolate bar, (Hershey’s milk chocolate bars are great!) or even throw in white chocolate chips.
  • Senses – A gooey swirl of melted chocolate and golden, toasted marshmallows, their crisp edges giving way to a soft, pillowy center. As you break through with a crunchy graham cracker, the rich aroma of sweet vanilla and cocoa fills the air. Each bite is a perfect harmony of velvety, melty sweetness and satisfying crunch.

Best Dippers

There isn’t much I wouldn’t scoop into this dessert dip… possibly even just a spoon or my finger to get the last little bit.

  • Graham crackers
  • Strawberries
  • Apple slies
  • Pretzels
  • Waffles
  • Rice cakes
  • Chocolate chip cookies
  • Banana slices
  • Nilla Wafers
  • Chocolate shortbread
  • Pancakes
  • Potato chip
  • Brownie bites
  • Peanut butter cookies

Storage and Freezing

How to Store

While this smores dip is hands down best freshly baked, sometimes you can’t eat it all and want to be able to enjoy it the next day. No problem! Leftover dip may be kept in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.

How to Reheat

To reheat it you will want to place it in the oven at 350°F degrees until the chocolate is melted again. You can also microwave it, but be watchful because the marshmallows can heat and overflow and the chocolate can seize.

Can I Freeze Smore Dip?

Unfortunately, I do not recommend freezing this dessert dip. However, I’d bet you’ll have it gone in one sitting anyways!

Notes

No need to spray the skillet with non-stick cooking spray, it doesn’t make a difference, marshmallow is sticky no matter what.
If you like charred marshmallows like I do, place the skillet under a high broiler for 1-2 minutes. Watch closely because they can burn fast and potentially start a fire.
