Mexican Refried Beans are one of the easiest and most versatile recipes out there. Perfect for any season and so many dishes, I’m a firm believer that every home cook should be able to whip a quick batch with a few pantry essentials.
Mexican Refried Beans are an easy homemade refried bean recipe using pinto beans, green chilies, cheese and Mexican spices. Ready in just 15 minutes!
There is no better way to make easy refried beans than with Luck’s Beans! Luck’s has the highest quality standards, delivering premium bean and fruits since 1947.
Soaked and simmered in a creamy pork seasoned sauce, they have a soft texture and amazing taste.
Mexican Refried Beans can be used to make some slammin’ nachos, burritos or tacos. I even serve mine in taco salad and as a stand-alone dip.
It’s that tasty that all you need are some homemade tortilla chips and you are all set! And of course, they are the best as a side dish!
This easy refried bean recipe is also super versatile. No garlic? No big deal! Just omit it or add a little garlic powder.
Same goes for cumin and chili powder. The cheese can also be substituted depending on what you have on hand.
While cheddar is my preferred cheese, pepper jack and Colby cheese are also good options. Or make it with no cheese at all for those with dairy allergies.
And while I always have either canned green chilis or frozen Hatch chilies on hand, this too can be omitted or substituted for chipotle peppers, jalapenos or any other type of pepper. Even habanero or roasted poblano for a smoky flavor.
Here are some other Latin inspired meals to serve them with as a side dish!
