Looking for an easy to make fruit smoothie to get your day started? Peach Mango Smoothie is the ultimate morning smoothie to keep you full until lunch while putting a smile on your face.
This morning smoothie recipe uses mango, peaches, vanilla protein powder, Greek yogurt, and skim milk for a silky, smoothie and refreshing drink. Full of flavor and antioxidants, it is a delight for kids and adults!
Spring is here and soon it will be summer. Quick translation: bathing suit season is near. For me, that means I need to start hitting the gym and making healthy food choices. As you can imagine, this can be a bit challenging in my line of work.
While kale based green smoothies are all the rage, I need to vary the flavors throughout the week to prevent getting bored. My new favorite flavor is Mango Peach or Peach Mango, whichever way you put it, they are delicious and make me feel like I’m on a tropical vacation… until I snap back to reality trying to fight my children to put on pants.
Best Blender For Smoothies
A high-powered blender is essential for smooth, easily drinkable smoothies. Without it, you’ll end up chewing on ice chunks. Even worse, a clogged straw if you are using one.
For Single Serving: This recipe makes 2 servings, but you can easily cut it in half. I use the Magic Bullet every morning after my workout. It makes just enough for me and a few sips from the kids. It’s is super easy to clean since the blender cup can be used as your drinking cup and is dishwasher safe. The blade screws on and off and can be rinsed in the sink. The base is short enough to slip into the same cupboard as the glasses.
I haven’t used this one, but it comes highly recommend from friends and is PINK! And of course, Ninja has a highly rated (but also a little more expensive) version.
For Large Batches: I love my BlendTec and use it for far more than just smoothies. Sauces, salad dressings, mincing, soups and more. Yes, it is an investment, but these blades will pulverize nearly anything and last up to 30 years.
Other folks swear by their Ninja or Vitamix.
Ingredients
Smoothies are great because even if you follow the same recipe, they rarely taste the same. Fruit differs in sweetness, some days you have more, switch up the milk or add protein powder, it all changes your morning cup of get-up-and-go. Here is the base recipe for my mango peach smoothie.
- Mango– Mango can be fresh, jarred or even frozen. If using frozen, omit additional ice. Fresh mango can be chopped up and frozen for future smoothies. If using jarred or canned, find some in water or fresh juice and drain well before blending.
- Peaches– Same as mango, feel free to use fresh, jarred or frozen. If using jarred or canned, find some in water or fresh juice and drain well before blending.
- Plain or vanilla Greek yogurt – My secret to super smooth smoothies is using yogurt. It is a great addition to your diet for its rich tanginess, but more importantly, it’s probiotic cultures. I won’t get too nerdy here for the sake of saving everyone some kind of boring reading, but these cultures can help encourage the good kind of bacteria in your gut that keep you happy and healthy.
- Milk- I opt for skim milk, but any fat content or alternative milks can be used. Almond milk, oat milk or soy milk- plain or vanilla are great!
- Vanilla protein powder– This is totally optional, but after a tough workout I like to get in as much protein as possible. I use this kind, it tastes good and also has collagen.
- Ice– Only use 2-4 cubes, depending on how thick you like it and only if you aren’t using frozen fruit. If you want a totally smooth drink, omit them all together.
- Strawberries– Optional, but so fancy!
How to Make a Smoothie
- Combine the mango, peach, yogurt, milk, protein powder and ice in a high powered blender. Make sure there you only fill the blender about 50-70% of the way full, it will incorporate in air and need space to blend.
- Blend for 45-60 seconds or until mixture sounds smooth and no more large chunks are being processed. You might need a tad longer if you aren’t using a high-powered blender.
- Pour into glasses and garnish with a fresh strawberry, optional.
Frozen Fruit in Smoothies
As I mentioned before, using frozen fruit in smoothies gives them a frothiness and chill and omits the ice. It is also a great way to prevent waste. After my kids get done eating, I throw the leftover 3 raspberries, half eaten banana or even strawberry tops in a freezer bag.
All of these items, even the greens of a strawberry, are great additions to smoothies! And I can’t tell you how many half-eaten or brown bananas get thrown into the freezer.
The problem is that frozen fruit, and many store bought blends, lack flavor or natural sweetness. I’ve found that using vanilla yogurt or protein powder brightens the natural flavors and giving a slightly sweet edge. Here are more great fruits for freezing for smoothies.
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Bananas
- Cherries
- Kale (yes, we realize this isn’t a fruit!)
- Apricot
- Kiwi
- Pineapple
- Apples
- Blackberry
- Pomegranate
- Plum
- Pears
Make Ahead & Meal Prep
Fruit smoothies are best enjoyed right out of the blender. Even waiting 30 minutes can result in them separating or melting and no longer being a tasty treat.
Instead, opt for meal prep. Freeze the fruit in single serving baggies. Measure the milk yogurt and even protein powder into small deli cups and place them in the fridge. Put it all in the blender and hit the button!
