You might be most familiar with it being sprinkled on deviled eggs, but paprika is a common spice found in many recipes! These are the best paprika recipes!
What is paprika?
Paprika is a ground spice made from the sweeter varieties of dried red fruits from the capsicum annuum plant. The peppers used to make this spice are from North America, or more specifically Central Mexico.
Paprika is used as an ingredient in many dishes all over the world. It is usually used to season and color rices, stews and soups. Goulash is commonly made with paprika.
It’s also used when making sausages. It’s mixed with meats and other spices. Here in the United States, paprika is often sprinkled raw on foods as a garnish (think deviled eggs!) but the flavor is more effectively brought out by heating it in oil.
