When the favorite holiday of the year comes around, it’s time to pull out all the stops for making memories. This simple 4 ingredient eggnog dessert is so quick and easy to throw together. A creamy dessert for the Christmas season.

Made with vanilla pudding, whipped topping, extract and of course eggnog. Top with cinnamon and nutmeg, making this the perfect dessert for eggnog lovers. Some are eggnog cheesecake dip, but I find them to overpower and get too thick. This one is perfect for dipping holiday cookies without breaking them.

Ingredients

The ingredient list is short and sweet for this easy recipe with fantastic eggnog flavor.

  • Instant vanilla pudding– Make sure the pudding is instant and not traditional, otherwise it will not set up properly. Traditional vanilla is a great base, French vanilla will be a tad richer and sweeter.
  • Eggnog– That is what makes this eggnog dip! Eggnog is made from yolks and cream, which means it is much thicker than milk which is generally used for pudding. This will feel thicker because of that. Make your own eggnog or grab a jug at the grocery store. Be mindful that many contain alcohol, which is perfectly fine if your intention is to make boozy eggnog dip, but since we do not cook this no-bake dessert dip, the alcohol content will remain.
  • Whipped topping– such as Cool Whip, this is more stable than real whipped cream, which can deflate.
  • Ground Cinnamon and Nutmeg– Dust the top with these warm spices!
  • Rum Extract- If you want the flavor of boozy eggnog without the actual booze, making it safe for the kiddos, then, add a teaspoon of rim extract with the eggnog. This is optional. Vanilla extract can also be used to amp up the flavor.

How to Make Eggnog Dip

Grab a few supplies like a large mixing bowl, whisk, and measuring cups and you are good to go. In fact this sweet treat is perfect to bring the kids into help. if you are making homemade eggnog, make it first and chill well.

  1. Mix eggnog and pudding mix. Combine pudding mix with eggnog and whisk together. Mixture will be thick of course, its pudding after all. Allow mixture to chill in refrigerator for 15 minutes or up to an hour. An electric hand mixer or stand mixer can also be used.
  2. Fold in whipped topping. Then carefully fold in whipped topping to eggnog pudding mixture.
  3. Garnish. I love to garnish the top with a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s super pretty and makes the dip really pop.
  4. Serve. To serve, place in a serving bowl with your favorite cookies and/or fresh fruit.

How Long Can Dessert Dip Be Left Out?

A good rule of thumb when serving chilled dishes or perishable ingredients is to allow them to sit out for about an hour and not more than 2 hours. At that point they have come to room temperature and can begin spoiling.

A simple trick or hack is to place the bowl of dip inside a large bowl filled with ice. That way the bowl is staying chilled even while it’s out of the refrigerator. Especially helpful in houses that are warmer in temperature too.

What to Dip in Eggnog Dip

Let’s get creative and have some fun, shall we? Of course cookies are high on the list of what to dip in Eggnog Dip.

  • ‘Nilla Wafers (Vanilla Wafers)
  • Graham Crackers
  • Gingersnap Cookies
  • Gingerbread Cookies
  • Chocolate Graham Crackers
  • Lady Finger Cookies

Fruit is also a great idea on any dessert tray. Not only does it give options for your guests but fruit is just wonderful to dip. Try apples a tart Granny Smith apple is really good for a fun twist on flavors. You might also like a Pink Lady apple or a Honey crisp Apple as well.

Strawberries, Raspberries, or Blackberries are also wonderful. Give it a try and see what you think!

Storage & Freezing

Storage: This is a chilled dip and should always be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It will last about a week when properly stored.

Freezing: I do not recommend freezing this dip.
